The cheaper one is the same as the ARBII, I'm happy with mine and with the money saved over buying the ARBIII, especially since down here I got the ARBII with an awning and annex and flyscreen room for the awning for less than the cost of an ARBIII from ARB.

If they both include the same stuff go for the ARBIII one, if the cheaper one includes the annex and any other stuff get that.

Cheers

It actually looks as though after getting the RTT, annex, and shipping the ARB may be a tad bit cheaper.....so from the sounds of it I should go with the ARB.

Thanks again guys!

ARB vs All others

I have the cheaper and been on campouts with folks with ARB. other than the LOGO what is the real difference????

Honestly this has been bashed and bashed.... Folks say ARB is the only good quality tent, only good quality bumper..... come'on. I cant tell the difference between mine and the ARB. I am completly happy with mine and I really believe the fabric is the same as well. Just because its made in China does not make it inferior.

If it were me... I would go with the cheaper of the two and put the money saved into the other projects that your trailer will need. IMHO, ARB needs to come down of their horse and make a product with a more competitve price and stop relying on their name to subsidize the products sale.

In other words now that I got off my horse, go with car top camper your not going to be disappointed.... I have a mombassa and saved half the price of ARB

Thanks for your advice. If that vendor I found for the ARB ever gets back to me the ARB+annex will actually be a bit cheaper so I plan on going that route.

Well it looks as though the site that I was going to order the ARB through went out of buisness but never took their web site down so I couldnt get it for the price I thought. But here were the best deals I found.

$1,419.00 USD shipped for the tent and changing room from Car top Camper

$1,468.14 USD shipped for the ARB series III + annex from 4wheelparts.com

I went with the ARB just because it was easy to order through 4wheelparts.

I like the ARB simpson tent and the extra space the annex provides. I plan on upgrading my RTT to this one soon. I am a little confused on the price. According to the 4 wheel parts website, is the price for just the tent $1426 and the annex is $243? Did you get a discount or something?

I always search the web for the best advertised prices. I called 4wheelparts and gave them these links.........

http://www.autopartsdealer.com/roof_...1995830-p.html

http://www.autopartsdealer.com/annex...p559114-p.html

And they matched the offer so the tent+annex came to $1,468.14 with free shipping

They also offered me a lifetime warranty for the tent at a cost of a bit over $100 but I wanted to read the fine print to see what is covered so I asked them to send me the info 1st.

Thanks for the clarification. I am curious to see how the tent will look on your M-416 with the annex attached. From what I read, they removed the floor and now provide some sort of flaps in the inside of the annex, making the addition of a floor optional. My tent is set at about 5' high, so I am wondering how much extra fabric material from the annex I will have to deal with. Please post some pics when you get it all set up.

Thats already something that I took into consideration. The reason I havent started building the frame yet is because I wanted to take actual measurements of the height the annex needs to sit. It may be quite high (I think I read 6'2) but I am considering making the frame legs collapsable so the tent would sit real low for transport with a lower center of gravity, but once at the camp site I could slide the frame legs up to set at the needed height.

That is one option. I tried to avoid an adjustable frame because the tent is too heavy to raise with one person. If you always camp with another person then I guess it would be fine. When I built the frame for my trailer I considered setting it at 6', but that was way too high. If the annex ends up being too low one option I was thinking is to take it to a local awning place. They can cut and reinforce the fabric to whatever height I want.

I got my ARBII (The same as you're initial cheaper link) for $1200AUD (we are pretty much $1 for $1 at the moment with USD), that included the large tent with the covered entrance, the annex with removable floor (zips in) the 2.5m by 2.0m awning and the 4 flyscreen walls to attach to it. I'll grab some pics of it on the top of my teardrop trailer later today. It must be one of the few things we get cheaper here :)

Did you get the series II or III? I thought the original link I posted was for a series III (not that I know the diference).

But I sent numerous emails to the site I originally posted as well as called the number they listed under contact. I never received a reply to the emails and the # they listed was for a fax. So I kinda lost a bit of faith in that seller. I am a big fan of customer service and if I cant get a hold of a seller before they get my money you can forget about after.

It was the ARBII, the Car top camper 2 is an exact copy as the ARBII and most likely made in the same factory. Mine is another brand but I'd guess they are all the same just badged for each seller ;)

Anyway, here's a pic of what I got, this is the sellers pic not mine.
