Running 24v lights on 12volts

If I put 12 volts to 24v incandescent aircraft lights will they produce half the lighting? Not interested in a converter but just running them dim.

They would be really dim... halving the voltage reduces the wattage flowing through a resistor to one quarter - so if they were 10 watt bulbs they would then run at 2.5 watts. They would be lit up but very orange in color.

I have an assortment of Grimes luminaires from the 1950s, Thats about all the experience of aircraft lighting for me.
They seem to be nothing special...

Are your bulbs or bases somehow special that you cant simply fit 12v bulbs of desired low wattage ?
I dunno, Maybe you just want to be known as a "dim bulb"...:smiley_drive: But yes, as others mentioned, It will work but dim.
I've been called far worse. I was hoping half the light from half the voltage would be OK. Pesky math seems like it foiled that. At 1/4 power I'm not going to venture into these lights. Thanks all!
