RX330 Vs. Outback AWD?

What are the major differences on the systems between the two vehicles? Particularly the 2005 model RX and Outback wagons? Why do I not see any Lexus RX vehicles in this category? I would think that the RX would offer a comparable platform with less aftermarket support, not that either is great is in the US.

Thanks in advance!

The RX is not built for any off pavement adventures, the desing and components are car based for a good ride. The Outback would be much more capable and a few have modded them for a little more offroad forays. The RX would come with more luxury options standard but a loaded up Outback would be pretty plush.

I thought nothing of the RX300s until I ran into one on the far east side of Mono lake.
It's a good 1.5 hours of sandy trails. Not enough to require airing down, but enough to get in trouble if you don't keep your speed.

I was impressed, he was heavily pinstripped from the overgrowth and he managed to follow me out too.

From my limited knowledge of toyota AWD systems. It appears they use a computer controlled approach. Activating a brake for the slipping wheel.
I NEVER liked that methodology from them. It sucked on my ISF, and it sucks on my Tundra.

Subaru takes a mechanical approach with a rear viscous diff. Albeit, it is the smallest viscous diff I have ever seen but it gets the job done. The AWD varies from manual to auto.
The auto's normally function more as a FWD until slip is detected. Manuals are full time awd. I've owned a WRX and now a Forester as well. I'd give the nod to the outback over the lexus.
