Scouting out unmaintained roads in RI and CT

A few months ago Rhode Trip posted up a day trip he took in CT and RI. Today 7wt and I decided to head over there too check the area out. Its not too far away from where we live.

We were very surprised as to the nature of these roads.

Just thought I post up some pics from today. We should be heading back out there Saturday for a more in-depth exploration.

These pics are a mix of his and mine.

Well that's it for the day. It was only meant as a quick feeler trip. We noticed numerous side roads that look ripe for exploring. This weekend maybe.

We both can't wait to head back there.

Looks like you fellers found some interesting places to poke around in. Old cemeteries seem to have a gravity like pull to the hoplessly curious. The dog, on the other hand, seems just to want to get back in the truck and cuddle up to the heater. My only question is...where's your snow? We're getting buried down here and it ain't fair that you folks are missing out on it.

Well the dog wasn't ours. He would not let us pass though. He seem intent on blocking the road.

No snow here, just rain. Were too low to get large amounts of snow in this area during this time of year. A few more weeks and we should get some.

<Sigh> Makes me miss the East. It looks like you have plenty to keep you busy. Too bad there isn't much daylight this time of year.

Eh, the lack of daylight does not bother me too much.

Jenn and I really missed New England when we were living in Oregon. I missed having so much colonial history surrounding me and of course the fall here. There's nothing better for me then a mid-October day in New England.

We passed 61 rural cemetaries while transversing VT last year, by rural I mean on 1 lane dirt roads. They are always fascinating. Here Is one I found recently.
