Well according to my talk today with Montana as long as I'm not making money and I can tow it with a non comercial truck they don't care. I could tow 20k with my current truck and if I was never in a car accdent no one would say any thing. I just want to be on the up and up.

Ford told me every part of my truck would Händel the weight but the motor is just not up to the task long term. Sad part is I still have to buy a new truck.

Yes for work I would require a D.O.T number and a special license. I just want to be able to wheel my truck and haul the quads and sleep I know I want a lot.

Exactly!!! My F350 carried my camper just fine. BUT, if I were ever in an accident, my fault or not, I'd be screwed. Thus the dually. Don't knock it 'till you try it. I love my dually. I don't intend to offroad it. That's what the jeep is for, or in your case, the quads.

Oh we have the jeep also.

That's a problem we just work.from a different angle. I have owned 3 dualys over the years never much liked them.

The quads are an addition to things wife whole family rides. She wants to do more with them. We moved away for 6 months and the whole time all she did was miss home.

Also she and her mom do tile art using pictures she takes and they along with my wifes aunt want to go to craft shows. Her aunt is a metal worker makes fire pits and cowboy sings and such. We need a way to get there things to the craft shows.

My problem is as I get older I seem to need to justify my spending with my self. I really want Irocks for the jeep but the tiers on it how ever old have nothing wrong with them. I want to tow things safley but did not see the need for a new or additional truck.

I'd just like to add that your original question was about "legal" towing capacity. There really isn't any such thing. You can tow as much as you want (within licensing requirements) and it's not "illegal". The only legally enforceable weight limits are your tires and axle weight limits. That's why they're listen on the sticker on the door. You will notice that nowhere on your truck does it list the towing capacity or the GCWR. Police officers and even DOT officers have no idea what each and every as built truck's factory tow rating is and don't care.
If you aren't exceeding your tire, axle, tags, or driver's license ratings what you're doing isn't illegal.
