30 months ago I bought Ford Transit cargo van and started our conversion. Since I wanted the "big one", high roof, extended body, I knew that it never be very good base for a off-roader and that's why I decided to stick to basic 2WD. This vehicle is for vanlife and for traveling in the USA and Canada. No plans to go to Amazonia or Australian outback, however I already went last year to Prudhoe Bay, AK and I hope to come back here this year.
I changed tires to 17 inch BF Goodrich T/A KO2 and added air suspension to the van. I also have 16 kWh of electricity in four 170 Ah 24V batteries and endless shower, so I can stay in wilderness for a long time.
