Self Made Portable Power Pack

I'm looking into options to build my own portable power pack, much like the National Luna unit. My goal is to use it as my second battery to run my fridge and camping accessories. To separate the two batteries I will use the National Luna split charging system.

The battery will most likely be the Sears Die Hard Platinum Marine group 31:

The plan for the enclosure is to use a heavy duty marine style battery box such as this one:

Have this connector on top of the battery box to connect the battery into the vehicles electrical system:

I will probably also have a connector for connecting a solar panel to the battery as well as a 12v outlet on the battery box.

Has anyone ever made one of these before? What are your guy's thoughts on this?

Thanks

I'm very interestedf in what you come up with. I've been wanting to make one for a while but my power pack from a home store is still kicking. I want something self contained and with an inverter. I wouldn't need it all the time so I'd like to remove it from the system but also have it available to plug into the vehicles system to be charged and used.
