shackles

My 97 Tacoma 4WD is stock height and I am going to be lifting it 2.5" in the front. I am going to be ordering new leafs and want the rear to be lifted 2.5" as well to keep the stock rake for load carrying. I read that at least 1" taller shackles should be used with lifted leafs to make full use of the extra travel. Is this the case, would it be best to get the longer shackles and order the leafs accordingly to achieve the 2.5" in the rear?

I went with the Dakars with add a leaf and OME stock length shackels. The thing that really helped flex was a longer shock and custom bump stops. The shocks are the Bilstein 5125 10" P.N. 33-185552. The bump stops I fab custom by flexing the suspension until the spring flattened out and measured the gap and fabricated accordingly.

I have had them installed for two plus years and differant load conditions, off road, sand dunes and long highway I wish I would have done them first thing when lifting the rear. I always have all of my recovery geer and a sleep platforn installed, around 350 total weight. Unless you carry a constant load you my not want to install the AAL. That can be added later if required. They are very smooth compared to stock or stock with AAL.
