After many years of fun, we do not see our family using this camper as much as it should be used. It is sad to sell after all the great memories, but I think a new owner will enjoy it more than us now.

This is an extensively upgraded Taxa Cricket. Particularly the entire frame (body down) was rebuilt with much more significant rectangular tubing. Although we did not take the camper on any difficult off-road excursions, the original frame cracked where the main rails bend to form the tongue. Instead of doing the welding patch Taxa recommended, I hired a skilled welder to replace the main rails with 2x4 steel tubing, custom bent by a hot rod shop in NC. The result is one of the strongest Cricket’s out there ready for plenty of future dirt roads or just enjoying the campgrounds.

Mostly stored covered in private backyard. Single owner. Meticulously maintained.

Camping Additions:

• Engel 45qt refrigerator
• Two custom made aluminum and Cordura overhead kid’s berths (bunk beds) that swing upwards out of the way when not in use
• 5” memory foam mattress on main bed which also folds for using table
• ARB awning mounted to roof. I will also include the tent kit which attaches to the awning (only used once).
• 200-250W solar system with battery monitor and two Group 31 AGM batteries
• Doubled water capacity for fresh water and grey water – about 30 gallons each. Also 5-gallon jerry can with exterior mount and faucet for drinking water.
• Small microwave and inductive hotplate for camping when power outlet available at campground
• Interior charging pocket - fabric shelf on ceiling with 12V and 5V power outlets
• Large tongue box with fold out cutting board, camping stove and two 11lb propane tanks with stainless steel brackets mounted to tongue box
• Nemo privacy shower tent modified to quickly mount to corner of camper (uses onboard 12v hot water heater even when off grid)
• Maxxair vent/fan in ceiling
• Yakima load bars

Strength and Frame Upgrades:

• 2x4 steel tube rails extend from hitch to beyond axle. Tubes are sistered to original frame for significant structural strength improvement
• Suspension, axles and brakes replaced with Timbren including 2x2 steel cross brace for better frame torsional stiffness
• Lock N Roll Hitch for smother trailering on and off road
• Four heavy duty Bal levelers mounted to front and rear of frame
• All factory body mounts preserved
• Frame rust prevention via epoxy painted exterior and Zinc coated interior of new tubing. Additionally, wax undercoating sprayed on frame inside and out.
• Stainless steel through bolting on aluminum body structure in key places to improve stiffness and minimize delaminating risk
• Nearly new all-terrain tires
• XO off-road trailer tongue jack
• Taxa rear door stiffening brackets and original steel hinge

Known Issues:

• I accidentally drilled a hole in the canvas sides on the left side. A simple tent patch has held up over the years and has been waterproof. Otherwise, canvas in good shape.
• Maybe a few dings and scratches but nothing major. I really can’t think of much else.
