seen it

That truck isnt as nice as it looks.

First, it doesnt run. The owner bought it on ebay, drove it home and parked it.

It needs all new hydrualics for both clutch and brake systems. The rear cross member was replaced. All the doors are rusted out at the bottoms.

Its not at all worth what it is currently selling for. Not only that, but the owner probably isnt going to even mention any of the problems to the new buyer. I wish I could tell them but I have no way to do so. I feel bad for whoever buys it.

It used to be a beauty and it has lots of potential, but its not worth what he is asking by a long long shot.

Yeah, good to have a set of local eyes/ears that know a vehicle.

After it doesn't sell, make him an offer. Offer him $500 cash. Work your way up to what you think is reasonable. Just because it doesn't run doesn't mean it's not worth anything. A straight body is worth a lot. A relatively rust-free frame is worth a lot. A NADA-6 is worth a LOT if you are going to do an engine swap. The bulkhead is slightly different and will accommodate larger engines w/out any modifications. Yes, that does make a difference. Heater controls are better, heated windshield is also a good option.

Do your research and figure out what special things the NADA-6 cyl. 109's have before you dismiss it.

But, again, it's good to have some local info on the truck.

true

All good points mike. Its a good truck. Solid body, pretty good frame. He wants 12,500 for it.

I have NADA #601 so I like to look at as many as I can!

Good input Linus.

I particularly liked this line from the ad, "Strong evidence that this was the LR that pulled Kennedy's car from Chappaquiddick."

Boy, talk about finding a buyer's hot buttons! That should have the buyers just lining up.... But it certainly is a looker and he did spell 'Chappaquiddick' correctly, so extra points for that. ;)

This thread is pretty funny now that we've stepped into 'Kennedy-Land'.

My next-door-neighbor in Vegas was 'allegedly' the 'illegitimate daughter' of Joe Kennedy. We went round and round about her history, the stories she could tell, etc...

One day I drove her to the bank (she didn't drive), and was re-setting the password on her bank account. She asked me what I thought it should be. I suggested she use 'Chappaquiddick'. She didn't think it was funny. I then suggested 'Mary Jo'. She didn't think that was funny either.

That 109, if the doors are rotted out, is still a good candidate for restoration. Doors are very expensive, especially the rear doors, and kind of hard to find...but not impossible.

$12,500 is expensive even for a running 109. When I sold my 1970 109SW back in 1998 I got 14K for it but it was super clean, I had done a TON of work to it, and it ran well.

I don't think it'll sell at 12.5. Sounds like someone looking for some gold. Do a Google for Charles Kellogg...it might be him pawning off one of his projects. He's the only one I think is audacious enough to ask that kind of money for a truck in that condition.

The Kennedy connection adds a total of $20 to the total value of the car.
