Skid plates/bash plates

Hey guys, I'm in dire need of new skid plates for my 03 Gen III. The front metal piece you see when standing in front of the car is dented and rusted, and as of last weekend the second "skid" plate that's made of plastic is now gone, exposing the differential and so on.
I'm wondering if its easiest to buy some online, or go to a fab shop and see what the guys can whip up for me. If online, what sites or companies would be good?
Thanks.

Probably the only aftermarket makers of skid plates will be in Japan or Europe. With all the Pajero accessories out of Australia, they don't seem to offer skid plates.

The easiest would be to have someone make up a set but be sure to consider reinforcing the mounting points since they're only designed for cosmetic skid plates and not bash plates.

Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
Skid plates for the Gen. III are most often fabricated here in the States.
I made plates for two areas (front diff./sump and transmission), and it was not very complicated.

I'm currently working with Asfir 4x4 and trying to get two more plates for my Gen III (fuel tank and transfer case).
The shipment will be ordered this summer and the product should arrive in AZ sometime in Aug.

(The order has not been placed yet.)

Most often? Makes it sound like there's been dozens made. I'd be willing to bet you could count the number of skid plate sets on one hand...

My apologies...I did not want to mislead anyone with the statement. I'm sure you have more knowledge of this than I do.
What I do know is that the folks I've heard from fabricated their own or had a fabricator manufacture the skids for their Gen. III.
...just trying to help the OP work towards his goal.

No worries... I do agree though that we don't want to mislead folks so I may have come off too strongly there since you're right that folks have had them built locally..

That said, the easiest thing may be to simply go to a local fabricator and have him build you a set. I'll reiterate that depending on the level of use, you may want to also want to re-enforce the mounting points since they are pretty light duty. Another thing I've seen done is re-enforcing the a stock set of skid plates using angle iron or strips of plate steel welded to them.
