Sleeping in a JKU?

the length doesn't seem to be a problem, just accommodating both gear & people. I think the Ursa Minor is the best idea out there, so I keep buying lottery tickets. Until then, Omar's idea of a shelf is interesting. My idea was to build a sleeping platform in the back, with storage underneath. But headroom would be a problem , and getting in and out may be comical. And Im not sure where this is headed: car camping or overlanding. I might get caught up in the build and forget to use it.
That's why we went with a trailer. I'm 6'5" and sleeping in either of our JKs was always out of the question.

Wife and daughter sleeps on the top Ursa Minor J30 and I sleep on the bottom, Trekboxx platform.

The rear seat does not have to removed. Sorry for the dark pictures. If you want more information, pm me.

fold down tailgate

There is akit for a fold down tailgate. I am thinking about installing sometime and maybe modifying an RTT so you could access the the tent from the tail gate with ever leaving the JKU. I think there are smart enough people out there to figure this out. If i budget wan't such HUGE issue for me i would buy the ursa minor 180 flippac. I had one on my tacoma an ditties really great but I kept the Jeep sold the taco and here we are>

@Jeep or Tacoma,

I like that concept, if I were to rotate my CVT Mt. Rainier to where the fold out part went to the back of the vehicle, then you could zip up the Annex around the back of the Jeep and have your tailgate down. with your feet popping out the back. I think for that to work though, your window would not be able to open all of the way. It'd be interesting to see how that worked...

I am very interested. I just bought the tailgate conversion kit for my JKU and I'm stoked about doing the install when I get home.

Right now I have my kitchen setup in the back of the Jeep so I'm not really setup for sleeping back there, but i ordered a drawer system from ARB a while back and I'm planning on putting my fridge on that and then hooking my stove up through that, so hopefully that will leave me space to sleep on the side.

I've been debating which seat to remove, either the 40% side or the 60% side... I'll have to install my drawer to see which side it needs to go on.

Using some more normally unused space.

Edited previous post, since it didn't include the signature line.

Was just thinking about this a bit more. How to store more stuff in normally unused areas.

Pychosquirrel designed a really cool drawer that works with the hardtop. Basically it requires the hard top, and uses the upper area behind the rear sport bar.
Here is a link.
What makes this so nice (imo) is it uses normally unused space.
Northridge4x4 sells is a vendor for him as well ( http://www.northridge4x4.com/grenadeacorp-jku-2007-15-sub-roof-concealed-locking-storage-system )
