March 2/3 spring fever got the best of me so I headed for the Moab, Utah area from Montrose, Colo to get myself a beauty treatment. Not many people out and about (totally fine by me). Passed thru scenic Professor Valley viewing Fisher Towers, Onion Creek, Priest and Nuns, and icy Professor Creek. Headed for the Hell's Revenge 4x4 trail to run some slick rock and get great 360 degree views. The sun came out while on HR which was welcome and warm on my winter-pale skin. Had the HR trail virtually to myself most of the way. Ran Hell's Gate which has great pucker factor. Watched some Texas jeepers struggling in the tough and optional Escalator. Way too tough to try in my low rider Discovery but fun watching others.
Day 2 found me headed south and southwest of Moab viewing arches, amazing Behind-the-Rocks splendor, La Sal Mountains, Kane Creek Canyon from the canyon rim, and several 4x4 side trails. At the Lone Rock sandstone monolith I viewed Balcony and Picture Frame arches plus saw my first spring wildflower-several yellow desert parsleys. Approached Pritchett Canyon from the south where I took the marvelous short hike to massive Pritchett Arch with nearby views of Cumming and Wigwam Arches. A great 2 days that got my springtime wanderlust juices flowing.
