Has anybody made or mounted one? Something along the lines of a RTE Slimline bumper

I've always dug that look (rather than the bulkier ARB style), and I have the material on hand to build it...just can't quite tell from staring at pictures of Montys with their bumpers off if a slimmer bumper would leave too much of her underparts exposed.

Yeah I saw those...most are on 1st gens or have a bit more bulk than I was looking for (as in tall...from the bottom of the bumper to the top). It may be that Monteros, with all the IFS, just have alot of stuff that needs covering up.

I reckon the best thing to do is just rip the factory plastic off, set my beginnings of a bumper up there, and see what its gonna look like.

Actually, there is one in your second link that I hadn't seen before (stupid iphone won't let me pull the pic to post here...thanks Steve Jobs) that makes it look like it might work out good. Very low profile and non "cow plow" ish.

Time to start cuttin and measurin...though not in that order, of course.

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
Manfromsnowyriver has a very slim bumper, probably the highest one I've fit on a Montero. Lots of clearance, doesn't expose anything either.

I plan to build a similar bumper for my gen 2.5 in the future. If you take the plastic and chrome covers off the stock bumper, you can use that width/height as a base or a template for a custom one and just taper the sides up to make it as narrow as you want. The Montero already has a convenient location for a winch between the frame rails, right above the skid plate.
