Smittybilt Trail Shade

I was planing on putting together my own awning this weekend. After pricing poles, tarps, and misc. I decided to pick up a Smittybilt Trail Shade for the LR3. Great product for the price ($60), surprisingly well thought out. It's designed to mount on a rear tire mount, but was easy to adapt to my rack. It's nice that the awning can be moved around the rack as needed also. The awning doesn't take three minutes for one guy to set up or tear down, and has a nice storage bag.

The picture gives a bit of a misleading idea of the shade footprint. There is easily enough room under it for three to four people.

That looks pretty good for the price. I have been torn because I want an awning but don't want to push past the half rack I have from frontrunner-looks like you also don't have a full lenght rack either.

What I really want is a baby fox wing but that would be a lot of $$$ even if it was produced. Your idea may get copied!

My rack is roughly a 3/4 rack. The awning starts out at about 3ft wide and goes out to 6ft wide or so.

I went ahead and added some hooks to the mounting straps that just slide over the rack. I'll get pics.
