Taken from TTORA, though some of you might be intrested...I think I may pick one up...you guys think its a good idea?


Saw this on another forum. Same ones Warn sells. Yarding Block #1250, $39.65

I suppose, but if you only have one wrap on your winch drum when using it, you could potentially have exceeded it's WLL by 2 tons (assuming an 8,000lb winch).
It does look like the same one Warn sells though. I never noticed before they were only a 6 ton WLL.
I wonder if they have the higher capacity versions.

I sure wish mfg's would use a consistent method of rating them.

If I recall, the rating on that block is for overhead lifting, which I beleive requires a 6:1 factor of safety.

The rating for winch recovery is less stringent, more like a 2:1 or 3:1, but there is no industry standard.

FWIW I just rang them and ordered two. The guy told me the the BLOC1290 listed under the HDG YARDING BLOCK section is what you might think it is. Same snatch block, only hot dip galvanized.
