Snorkel install on xj

So I got a good deal on a used Safari Snorkel and finally installed it. No instructions nor pattern so the first outside hole was a pucker factor on the measuring and re-measuring before we drilled...lol

Now I have to replace washer fluid bottle, locate new breather tube, and re-work my airbox and it will be complete.

Also added a rear storage bag for the rear (ATV Bag)

Roof Rack

I'd sure like to see more pictures of your roof rack, especially the ladders on the back and how they are attached.

Thanks,
Fred

Fred,

I uploaded a few more pics of the roof rack which is a Olympic Top Hat Rack which has two mounts on the rear which I in-turn used as drop in stud holes for the ladder. When I fab'd up my rear bumper I made it in 3 pieces with the ladder design in mind. Pretty simple and basic, I wanted it simple.

Nice looking XJ.

If I was to guess about the fender, I would say he removed it because he was working with no template to follow and wansn't sure what was behind where he was going to cut....just a guess though, mind you...

My intake comes in from front/under the airbox, is this the way the 95+ XJ snorkle runs?

Mac, can you take a pic of the adapter you attached to the airbox?

I removed the fender to cut the hole going from the fender well into the engine compartment right in front of the airbox. Inside the engine compartment the space to get a drill was not going to be easy without removing a lot of items, airbox, big hunk of wires, and other items, so I removed the fender to get a clean cut.

I could have just ran the air tube down and around into the front. But the shorter route was cut a hole right behind the front end and route the air tube so it will not be visable.

Is this an early version of this snorkel or something?

I thought the Safari snorkel was designed to be completely above the character crease in the front fender...

Or am I confusing it with a different manufacturer's snorkel?
