im just wondering if anyone makes a snorkle for my 86 chevy 1/2 tonn, i know safari doesnt but i was wondering if anyone knows if a specific model of there snorkle can be made to fit? ive only ever seen custom jobs and i thing they all look terrible. i was also thinking a military humvee snorkle would be kinda cool but doesnt look like it be strong in the way of getting caught up in branches ect.

You may be able to fit something off any other full size if you can find one, the military HMMV is an extremely strong unit and I know this from tons of experience. If all else fails just fab something up out of sheet metal or abs plastic that you do like. Who knows you may even find a markets to the full size Chevy crowd.

I know you can't see it very well on my avatar photo, but I'm running a Safari Snorkle my 86 K5(CUCV). I think it is off a a Series 100. It took some heating and bending to fit. Also had to buy some 4in NAPA intake hose $$$$ to route to the breather. I had a muffler shop bend some exhaust pipe to make joints/bends.

build thread by any chance? id like to see what youve done. i dont like how he just plumbed in the stock filter housing. i know from experience that they like to leak.

I do not have a build thread. I still have not educated myself on how to download pictures to the web. (Avatar was a cell phone photo). I'm using the stock breather. I know it has issues. My intent is to find/make a gasket or o-ring to seal the lid. Getting the correct location to drill the mounting holes in the fender was more difficult then I anticipated. The drilling template supplied as expected would help at all.

Try this site. This guy built a burb like the one on the movieDantes Peak. He had a few installation pictures to look at. I used these to help in my installation.

I used that very page on CarDomain as a beginning point of research for my own Safari Snorkel conversion. Dont know if this would help you any, but here is my own conversion thread on the Snorkel I did for my 02 Tahoe. I know the body styles / powertrain are different....but maybe you can get some ideas from my build.
