Snugtop Pro?

Thinking about changing my '06 into an expedition rig and am interested in the Snugpro tops (Xtravision) with full fibergalss doors and storage shelves in there. I'll never camp in the bed (we have a Sportsmobile) and while we have a yellow lab he doesn't ride back there tons so we don't really need the ventilation too much. Anyone done this yet?

This was my #2 choice after the FlipPac.

Solid setup IMO, stay away from full rear doors on an ExPo rig as frame flex when off road may tweak them and they will have sealing issues. Better to use the OEM tailgate and Snugtop glass.

My only negative feedback on these was in the ordering process, I never did get straight answers from dealers on available options/prices, and Snugtop redirected me to "the dealers" and it turned me off.

The "aftermarket shell industry" is a weird one.

YMMV.

Yeah, I've never figured out why the shell/topper industry doesn't have MSRPs like almost every other consumer product out there. My only guess is that the markup must be extreme and the manufacturers don't want the buying public to know what they are.

Thing is, as long as everyone in the industry is doing it, nobody has an incentive to change. Sooner or later you would think one company would figure that they can gain sales by having MSRPs that customers can look up and once that happens the floodgates will open.

I considered them and visited an excellent dealer,Valley Camper in Escondido,Ca. Family owned business with excellent product knowledge. They recommended the extra thick sides and roof for $200 extra at the time. The xtravision windows were not recommended. In addition he did not recommend any of the aluminum framed shells either for offroading. The steel-framed Gemtop was his top choice.

Thing is, I couldnt even get a definitive list of available options to even know what I wanted - nobody seemed to know anything and it was a bunch of "get 'em in the showroom" sales nonsense... and I even told them I was overseas. Snugtop, ARE, and Leer wouldnt even talk prices or ordering direct from them.

Our local dealer has been extremely helpful- there are tons of options and he seemed very accommodating. The only issue is the price- ~$2500 with solid doors with shelving, but that is installed with color matched paint and a yakima track system.

What I'd really like to do is add a Frontrunner rack to the topper a little longer than the topper that cantelevers over the cab a foot or so. I'm in contact with Equipt to find out which rack I can use. I'm looking forward to getting it together!
