So Cal Trip

Hi,

I live in Orange County, and am new to the forum and the scene.
I would like to see if anyone knows of some cool trial riding spots near by.
Mexico not included, been there many times, and going again soon for the San Felipe 250.
Just a short weekend trip with some experienced expeditioners to show me the ropes.
I am by no means a virgin when it comes to off roading, I can hold my own.

Any takers to organizing a little trip?

Yes, i would suggest Anza and or Table Top Mountain/Smuggler Cave area off of the 8.

I would be interested in going depending on the date! Are you thinking day trip or overnight?

I was replying to onlynataco's post but I guess it looked like I was adressing you (bostonmangler) since I replied right after tyour post - forums are getting too confusing... :D

my truck is in big need of a new steering rack and one rear wheel bearing and an axle seal (possibly drum brake shoe as well), but I think I will also replace another wheel bearing and maybe even front ones cause if one went out it is probably a good indication that others are close (especially cosnidering 90000 miles on the truck and the fact that I like mud and water) - I'll be doing all the repairs myself (always good to learn new things), but just the parts will cost me my "wheeling trips money" for a month or two, but I hope to be back and ready for action by april or so.

hopefully then I can go on the trip thru anza borrego trails I wanted to do a couple weeks ago when my truck broke - http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4285

I was thinking of heading out there with a group at the end of April... we'll see though.. .we move in the new house a week or two before that.. it might have to wait.

there's alot of great stuff in the Mojave vicinity. A group I wheel with sometimes does the Mojave Road a few times a year. They just did Nightmare Gulch and Last Chance Canyon last month.

Big Bear has some great trails too -- from the really easy/scenic to near-hardcore boulder hopping.

Mojave road can be excellent in April. It can also be blowing 40mph winds too! Make sure you hit the side trips along the way, and take a few days to the whole route.
