I love this van but after having our first child my wife and I are ready to move on to something different. We used it on many road trips including driving it up from Oregon when we moved to Anchorage in the middle of winter. It is purposely set up with a minimalist interior to keep it lightweight and still haul cargo but has a lot of thoughtful additions to make it a comfortable camper. We really enjoyed being able to easily go to a different campsite every night with al,most no set up/tear down. The biggest selling point for me was being able to stand up straight inside. I am 6'2” and can stand up straight wearing boots. The front seats swivel to face the rear and makes a dining/lounge area. The fridge and interior lights and vent fan run off of the house batteries for several days without needing to be charged. The batteries are charged by the engine but automatically disconnect from the engine battery when the engine is off. The long travel suspension with custom tuned Fox shocks make it ride like a Cadillac on or off road and allows you to access campsites a motorhome wouldn't be able to. Big enough to have a full size bed, get dressed standing up, and cook, but small enough to park anywhere. The bed folds in half and the rear seat folds against the wall so you are still able to use the full length of the cargo area if needed. There are motorcycle wheel chocks that easily mount inside and the tall rear doors let you easily load motorcycles. This van has been down to Baja from Oregon and pulled a 12' trailer from Oregon to Anchorage in the middle of winter with no issues. Below are all of the upgrades/features I can think of:
The van has the 5.4L gas motor and 189,700 miles. The engine runs smooth and transmission shifts good. The speedometer is off because of the oversize tires but it will cruise the highway just fine. If you live somewhere with a lot of long steep grades you might consider going down a tire size or changing the gear ratio. There is some lifter noise when it first starts up in the cold out but goes away when it warms up. There's a small oil leak on the passenger side of the motor that occasionally might leave a drop on the driveway. There is a squeak below 20mph or so that I can't track down. Brakes and wheel bearings seem fine so might just need to surface the pads? Winch doesn't work, I'm guessing something in the controller since there's no clicking from the solenoids. I plugged in the remote for the first time to test it since I was listing it for sale, never had to use it.
