Interesting vehicle. Be sure to check your state rules if you're planning to travel on pavement in a UTV or ATV. Some states will issue license plates, others no, still others don't care. Here's a web site that lists rules by state

For example, California will issue a number plate to the registered owner, but the vehicle is still banned from highway use. There are kits that claim to make ATVs/UTVs street legal, but check carefully with your state first.

Thanks for providing the list of state laws. Indeed it is important to research the laws regarding both on and off road travel whenever you travel to a different country, state or jurisdiction.

I write a family adventure series focusing on UTV travel for Dirt Trax Magazine that high lights areas that are UTV /ATV friendly. Over the last couple of seasons we have traveled to Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Michigan, Nevada, Quebec and Ontario using a UTV as our primary mode of transportation.

Yes, some locations have unlimited road access and other jurisdictions limit road access but still allow trail users to drive to accommodations, fuel and food.

On three separate vacations we have been able to use the UTV exclusively for an entire week accessing amazing trails, services and side trips such as white water rafting, boat tours, fishing and historical site seeing venues.

Having owned modified Jeeps for over 25 years my family loves off roading and the UTV exploration is something new to us that we are really enjoying.

Lots of agencies are using UTV's now for general or specialized patrols.

The US Border Patrol purchases around 500 new units a year and you may have seen a RP Advanced unit or a Polaris MRZR.

This unit is a one off prototype that we built in conjunction with Can am for the 2014-2015 show circuit when they started their Specialized Vehicles Group.
