Hey all,

Just got this trucklett a few months ago but my company is transferring me to a project in Mountain Pass Ca. Which means I have to live in Vegas and will have to commute 115 miles a day. So I’m off to buy a Diesel VW Golf. I’m bummed too because this little rig is perfect for what I was looking for. That being said here are the details:

1998 Rav 4 "L" 4x4 rare 5 speed manual with unubtanium center diff lock. 102k Power Door locks, Sun Roof, Cruise, CD separate from main deck, the "L" model had it all. Previous owner was a retired Principal and was very well maintained. Inside and out are super clean.

New 225/70-16 Bridgstone Dualer APT's
New Battery (as of 3 weeks ago)
New Breaks (Last night)
Did the Timing belt and Drive belt about 500 miles ago.
New Plugs
New Airfilter
All fluids changed (radiator, oil, tranny, rear diff and so on)

The Bad:
Two door dings on passenger side
One ding on rear quarter panel
Chrome Rims (nice style but they are chrome)
Steering wheel showing wear
Clock not working (lcd screen burnt out)
Asking $5800 $4800 obo

Wish I could find one on this side of the country for that price and looking like that. My wife loves them, has the two or do they call it a 3 door over in Tanzania. She'll need one here soon when she comes back.
Do you deliver? :)
Good looking one for sure Good luck with the sale.

don't foget...

we have a 98 5 spd with cdl too...

don't forget, I think this was the last year for glass headlights, so no plastic fogging.

good luck with the sell!

How capable is a rav4 off road?
I assume it can do the Mojave Road, but what is it's limitation? Ground clearance?
Is it full time 4x4?....I didn't see a 4x4 lever.

how capable?

As I understand it.... it is full time all wheel drive (80 rear 20 front?) and the CDL makes it more even... at least that is what I understood when reading. The worst part is ground clearance and parts hanging down. I think it is built on a Camry.

I had hoped to play more with ours, but my wife drove it 3 days after I bought it and said..."mine" that was about the last time I touched it (except for oil changes/tire rotations/etc)

Gravel and dirt roads would not be a problem, anything more interesting is driver skill and the use of a spotter. As Scott just started a RAV4 would make a great small expo machine. For two of us, camping and traveling NA and Mexico, I could be happy!
