***SOLD*** This was purchased for a motorcycle trip up to Alaska. It's been used about three times, two of those were in my garden before we left to test it. The unit is pretty much in mint shape and comes in the original box with all of the accessories. The only thing missing is the USB charger which is somewhere in my house but which I can't find at the moment. However, I will include an upgraded USB charger which has multiple concoctors so you can charge the phone and other devices (iPod, etc.) at the same time. As and when I come across the original wall charger I'll send that along to whoever buys the phone.

The few times I used the phone it worked great and I had no issues whatsoever with it. The one time I called on my trip was from Inuvik in the Northwest Territories, which is as far north as you can go by road in Canada. The reception was great and the phone is very robust. Here is a link to the site.

Man that is a good deal on this phone... I almost picked one up about a month ago. But I am still unsure of the reliability of Inmarsat's Network.... How was the power up and finding satellite time before placing a call?

Yep, I've tried to price it competitively. It's pretty much a brand new phone, with only a couple of quick calls made on it. I've just taken it outside to check on start-up times, etc. From the moment I pushed the on button to the time it was ready to make a call was 34 seconds. This included booting the phone up and getting a fix on the satellites. Obviously this may vary depending where you are, type of terrain you are in, etc. etc.

I assume the buyer will have to purchase another SIM card and reactivate it as well correct?

I'm not entirely sure how that works. I've sent a request off to the company I purchased the phone from to see what the options are. The existing SIM will be supplied with the phone but it may depend on who you ultimately decide to purchase service from as to whether or not you can use that SIM. I'll update this post as soon as I hear back from the provider.

Received this reply regarding transferring the SIM card, etc. So it sounds like its pretty easy for a new person to get the phone up and running.

"The new owner can contact us by phone or email and we can get him set up. He can also use the same SIM card so it makes it pretty easy. I will mention that Inmarsat is increasing their rates as of June 1st so all our plans are changing very soon and everyone will be affected."

I was really after a Iridum 9575 Extreme but I don't plan on using this out of the US. And the rates are better for Inmarsat. It is mainly just a backup phone. I will talk this over at dinner and see what we come up with...
