Solid beeping Noise from Behind the dash

Hi guys.
We just got a foot of snow here in the mountains of Colorado and yesterday I decided to enjoy this great Montero weather and went out for a nice drive.
When I got back home I accidentally left my fog lights on and withing a couple of hours my battery was completely dead.
This morning I go to out pu the battery charger on the truck and let it charge for a couple of hours then I went to start the truck and it fired right up.
Strangely though now I have this permanent beeping noise coming from behind the dash. It's a solid high pitch beep sound similar to a smoke alarm with a dead battery (not nearly as loud though) Has any of you experienced this ? This is my third 2nd gen Montero and Ive never heard this before and Ive haave more then one dead battery.
The truck in question is a 96 SR.

I always wear my seatbelt and there has never been a chime associated with it in either of my 97s nor my 96.
Upon closer inspection it seems to be the chime that tell you the keys are in the ignition when you open the door.
It wont shut off until you turn the truck off and take the keys out. I drove it today for 30 minutes with the chime on. My brain has had enough. Not to mention we accumulated another foot of snow so I'll handle it in a day or two.

I hope you get it figured out that would be super annoying!

BTW - what tires are you running and how do you like them in snow?

Weather doesn't permit being outside for long today so I haven't figured it out but I did drive another 30 minutes listening to the sweet sounds. lol

Tires are 31 x 10.5 General Tire. I do like them and they do great in snow and quiet on the road. The do not like rainy days much though.
Next set will be 33 x 10.5 BFGs though.

Could it be part of the old alarm/keyless entry? Mine never made a noise but it is a 98 so there could be a difference.

Sounds like a stuck door switch possibly. I know the beeping you're talking about. No door ajar light? Didn't mean to imply you drive around without your belt, I didn't realize you were driving it despite the beeping.

Mine used to not beep but my battery died and when it charged back up the beeping came back. It's supposed to warn you that your lights are still on or you left the key in the ignition when the truck is off. I think if you try pulling the connector to the fog light switch out and reconnecting it, it may turn it off.

^^

When my old battery with a dead cell was low or when the terminals were loose they made that noise, so maybe try clean up the posts and terminals and tighten them and that usually does it on my SR. I figured this out when I was on the trail and freaked out for a second after a rest but was on my way not long after tightening the terminal posts.

Give it a shot.

On my 98 the fuse for interior lights/radio controlled that beeping (door open warning). Not the greatest solution but give you temporary relief.

Worth noting. You mentioned leaving your lights on, but the beeping didn't alert you then? might be a malfunctioning beeper? I know in some cars this is just a relay. Might be worth looking into, if so, that would be a simple Junk Yard swap.
