Thanks, I found that site a while ago and the information is not bad. Like it says, Longstreet was known by both Jack and John. Most information on Longstreet is as Jack Longstreet. Only one or two references are for John Longstreet. Makes researching this person kind of hard when reading old newspapers.teotwaki said:

jcbrandon said:Thanks, NVProspector. Great material. Belmont is one of my favorite places in Nevada. I usually describe it to friends as the place with five residents and two saloons.
It's been a few years since I've been there. Is the Belmont Monitor Inn still functioning?
Too bad the Mizpah Hotel in Tonopah couldn't stay open. That would have been a great place to meet up before heading out into the backcountry.locrwln said:The Nevada crew needs to organize a get together...
Sounds like we could meet somewhere in the middle.

Any other ideas?
nvprospector said:We can do something like meet in Ely and go cross country to Tonopah. Staying on the main traction road we will end up going from Ely to Hamlton. Then it is a long streatch from Hamlton to Warm Springs. Warm Springs to Stone Cabin area over to Belmont. Belmont to Manhatten or maybe Round Mountain down to Cloverdale ranch. Then right into Tonopah. If we goofed off it will take 5 to 6 days. 4 days if you just drive. We would only see pavement when crossing it. This will go across the whole of the state.
Let me find my old track logs of that trip and I will post it.

That is the time frame I am thinking about. Most likely the end of June beginning of July. That way we can get some snow wheeling in also.locrwln said:Now that would be cool, are you thinking a June to July time frame?
Good Idea. I will start one when I get away from the work computer and at home. I want to look over my tracks of the area and start throwing out some routes we can take. I do know of some very old routes left over from the military expedition in the area. They are hard to find and even harder to follow. Maybe throw in a couple of those for fun.locrwln said:If we get serious about the planning on this, maybe we can start a new thread in the Nevada/California section.
Same here, we have been on many of the roads but not all in the same trip.locrwln said:Great trip. We have been in some of those areas, but like most, need more time. We love it out there.
