SOLO-JK-X (sleep in Jeep build up)

How tall are you? I'm 5'7" and can sleep in the back of my cherokee without removing the seat. I thought the JK had a little more room than the XJ. For my future JK, I was playing around with the idea of using cables from the roll bar to suspend a sleeping platform above the non quit flat folded rear seat. That would eliminate alot of conversion time and trouble, would be easy to stow, and is lightweight. If you could find a folding passenger seat it would be even better. I travel light and use backpacking stuff so I don't really need the extra storage under a fixed platform.

I haven't forgotton....but it seems that I don't have any pictures of v2.0.

I'll have to find some time to put the platform in and take a few pics.

Udate: 1st solo expedition trip

1st solo trip: Platform worked great. More then enough room. The only thing it needs more padding.
Spent Friday night alone in Anza Borrego's Little Blair valley. Camp right next to a huge split rock. I parked in tight because i was expecting some strong winds. It was a little breezy all day until around 11:30 pm the winds picked up the funny thing was that the temp did to. The out side temp went up 10 degrees.
Packing needs improvement. I need shorter Boxes so i can pull them out without unzipping the rear window on my soft top.

Glad to see you got it all built and out on the trail. It's a great feeling being self contained within such a capable vehicle isn't it?

I don't like the antenna mount or location. I have don some searching and found a few options. I know i want to mount it on the front hood Passenger side.
I'm looking at a few Diamond mounts.

I have been sick the last few days and didn't measure before the install. My best guess is around 3-4 inches more ground clearance. Rides nice with a soft top you can't tell if it's any loader. They will see dirt on Monday in Anza Borrego, coyote canyon

That looks great! You're the first one I've seen put 33's on a stock JK. Let us know if they rub when you're off road so we can pretend to be experts on tire size when others ask questions. ;)

Jeep looks great. I think that the way you mounted the antenna is good. I have a Larsen 2/70 mounted on a teraflex mount, (TJ) but if I was doing it again I think I would seriously consider doing what you did. '73.

Thanks

Jim Hold off on the mount. I don't really like it. It's a little weak. I going to try a different one. I'll post when i do.

I'll be swapping out my 2" spacers for an OME system sometime in January. The stock springs just won't handle my bumper and 8274. PM me your address and the spacers and bumpstop extensions are yours. You're going to need them.
