Some recommendations for squeezing a little more HP out of a 22r Sunrader

Just picked up a 1984 Toyota Sunrader 21ft w/ 109k and she is bone stock. She is a dog going uphill around here and i'm lucky to do 25mph on a long pull. I'm gathering the parts to do a tdi swap w/ a w56 5 speed so i do not want to dump alot of money into upgrades for the 22r but am hoping somone could recommend some minor tuning in the meanwhile. Would like to focus on carb adjustment, intake, and exhaust size (not looking to upgrade to a performance header). Anything cheap that will squeeze a little more out of her.

Get a timing gun and check your timing per the Manual. Check all of your vacume lines for leaks, check your plugs.

If your timing is off, adjust back to the book specs. If that does not help you can advance the timing a little. This will help a little.

Tdi would be the way to go for power and millage.

there are lots of ways to get a little more power, but they will cost. get a RV cam, thorly header, 2.25 exhaust, msd setup. those all helped me a lot
