Wow! Great report and pic's!

We're gonna be heading north to Seattle next year on vacation - wish we had the time to do a side trip like that!

I drove Bethel Ridge Road from 12 to 410 last 4th July weekend, as part of an afternoon loop from Silver Springs campground just outside Mt Rainier park. Best view are from the spur that heads east along the ridge to the communications tower. On a jeep site I've seen a trail description for the track that continues east from there.

That communications spur is one of the few gravel roads that I've seen with guard rails, possibly because it is used in winter.

I haven't tried Quartz Mtn, but have crossed the ridges between I90 and 410 via Wenas Valley and Rock Praire and FR 1701, with the most adventureous piece being Hog Ranch road.

Gifford Pinchot NF has an interesting mix of paved and gravel roads. The roughest that I've attempted in that area was the drive up to the Bird Creek Meadows camping area on the south side of Mt Adams (on Yakama reservation land).
