Spinning screw on roof rack (gen 2.5)

Sorry if this is a repost. I tried searching and I couldn't find anything, but I could have sworn I saw a thread about this on here.

Anyway I tried taking off my roof rack today, but there were a bunch of screws that kept on spinning. I guess they got rusted in the threaded inserts and the whole thing is spinning. Does anyone have any recommendations on removing it before I start hacking it all apart?

Sometimes you can lift up on the rack while you're unscrewing the screw and it will apply enough pressure to stop the threadsert from spinning. I had the same issue and resolve it by doing this. Two thumbs up to GrassCat for showing me this 'trick'.
