I love the SPOT Connect. For the new owner, read through the manual thoroughly. There are some minor quirks with the device, like needing to run an update when you set up new messages from the PC and re-connect with the phone (this has to be done in cell coverage area). Minor things, really, but I've had friends think their SPOT is malfunctioning because of this.
Also, the Bluetooth on most cell phones is operated with power save features, and the SPOT also has a disconnect timeout feature to hep save power. So, some phones will not auto re-connect to the device, and this requires manual user control to hit the reconnect button on the SPOT app, sometimes, even on your phone's settings to reconnect with the device (this has never happened to me, but did to a friend). Either way, those are very minor when you are aware of them, and take only a few seconds to account for. It's worth leaving those settings as is because of the power saving also, but you can modify the timeout on both the SPOT and the phone.
It's a superb device, I love sending out custom messages. Now if anything ever happens, a break down or something, I can msg my contacts exactly what replacement parts I need and what my actual condition is. I can't believe I read an article on here once that didn't even give it a chance and gave it a bad review because they couldn't get their act together pairing it with their phone. Makes me wonder how many people pass up this awesome device because of that article.
