ST MAXX 255/75r17 and 255/80r17 weights according to Cooper

I emailed Cooper to get the actual weights since there seemed to be a lot of incorrect info on tire store websites. Some sites listed the 255/75r17 as heavier which didn't make sense since it is smaller and a C range. Here is the. Reply. Not much difference.


"the 80 series tire is a load range E that weighs 58 pounds. The 75 series load range C weighs 54 pounds. These are the correct weights. Thanks, Les"

Thanks for posting. I wonder what the 255/5R16 weighs. I suspect is should be very close the the 17" version. But I am surprised the 255/75 isn't lighter. You would think being an inch shorter and load range C would be a bigger weight savings.
