Stabilizers on trailers

Okay I haven't seen them on anything but the largest of expedition trailers but...

If you have a rooftop tent on a trailer does the whole trailer wiggle much at night? Even if it's still attached to the tow vehicle?

I have two leveling/stabilizing "jacks" that I can easily/quickly snap into place on the rear bumper of my Horizon. Most of the time I just use one; and along with the tongue jack I can get it leveled and stabilized adequately. Occasionally on more uneven ground I'll use the two rear jacks and the tongue jack to get it level and stabilized.

And the small trailer/tent "wiggle" isn't really a bother to me...even when I am only using the tongue jack (Horizon trailer with indy trailing arms and air bladder suspension...maybe leafs would be different?).

It's one of those really simple devices that you wished you'd have thought of, but someone else already did!

How do I get my hands on one of those?? I checked the website, found pics, but couldn't find it for sale separately. I had given that some thought while building my trailer, but I figured I would go with those little stackable ramp things to level the trailer, but I think I like that better!!! Anyone know where to find it?

Do you have any more pictures of it? I'm interested in how it attaches to the trailer and if it could be used on the back of a vehicle to take the sway out when you've got a roof top tent setup. Is it something that could be switched back and forth between 2 vehicles with minimal work? How is it secured to the vehicle when not in use?

If you want one of these stabilizers just e mail me martyn@adventuretrailers.com we are placing an other order for them next week so I'll add more to cover your needs.

The stabilizer just slides under the trailer and snugs up under the body, or chassis to stop movement. It would work under a vehicle as well, but there is a limit to the upward motion. If your thinking of using it under a vehicle let me know the distance from the ground to the point you will be fitting it under the vehicle and I'll be able to tell you if it will work or not.

:jump: I should have known better as whenever I role in you guys do have that look in your eyes to, "Hide the women and children"! Better throw an order in for me as you know I've never met a gadget that I can't leave behind. I should be know at the "Rescuer of All Cool Gadgets"!

Yeah, we only hide the women, your safe around the children

front and rear stabilizers

I too fabricated some for my trailer. Two off the rear bumper and two off the front tongue. Very easy to do. I added two to the front for times when I am disconnected from my Jeep and may be facing high winds. I found them very handy in a storm I was recently in that had reportedly 50mph winds, sleet and rain. They held my trailer stable. I had corner tie downs to my rain cover-needless to say. I will also be a Pyramid if you would like to take a peek.

Wow this went quicker than expected!

Those are pretty sweet. I've seen several trailers setup but never any with stabilizers and didn't know if anyone even considered them. Guess I was a little off.

Coleman for one uses them. I know my father-n-law and brother-n-law both have them on the rear of their trailers. Work off a screw mechanism. effective but slow. The ratcheting strap idea that AT (mine as well) works quickly and effectively with far less weight involved.

i have an 9' coleman popup that i just axle flipped and my stabilizers arent long enough. would one of these work? i wouldnt mind getting one from AT but if i needed it longer i wouldnt mind building it either. My trailer is less than 1K unloaded but with bags, cooler, people, etc it gets up there and i'd like to take that stress off the axle when parked.
