I just finished hooking up my snorkle using the my stock air cleaner. I used 2 1/2 " flex hose, a 3" to 2" adapter from the plumbing section at Lowes and Extreme tape.

The 2 1/2 flex hose fitted perfectly inside the stock a/c intake and was sealed with extreme tape. I then taped a second piece of flex hose to the first again using the extreme tape. I removed the window washer bottle and turned it around and fastened it to the firewall with a zip tie. I cut the excess flex hose and fitted (forced) it into the 3" to 2" adapter and sealed it with a hose clamp and with more extreme tape. The inside 3" end of the adapter was then coated with silcione the hose clamp posistioned to the top facing back. I had my buddy hold it in place and I was able to tighten the hose clamp through the side vent. I just secured the hose and closed the hood.

Looks great

You'll need to "water-proof" the stock air cleaner housing, the inlet you've attached your intake tube to, isn't 100% water tight. Some use silicone, etc... I prefer to weld them 100% water-tight. However, if your going as far as to weld, you might consider moving your inlet to the passenger side of the motor (welding & fab required) then the supplied tubing from Safari Snorkel will be plenty.

On the inlet, I used this Rescue tape that is overlapping the hose and A/C intake. This tape bonds on itsself and becomes permanment. It is water proof. I will seal up the cover of the A/C with something.

When I worked in Bolivia, we had two or three deep (up to the headlights) river crossings everyday to go to work and never had a problem. These were bone stock FJ60's and 40's.

I have a few rolls of that stuff from the Navy. The things we would "fix" with that when we were at some remote "Bingo" strip.

I am probably asking a painfully stupid and obvious question... but why are you running the flexy hose all the way over to the passenger side...can you not put the snorkel on the driver side and just run the short section to the driver side?
Like I said, probably a dumb question, so please, please don't make me feel too stupid. Thanks.

The snorkle is designed only for the right side of the truck. I suppose you could mount it on the left side but it would be sticking up in the airin the middle of the fender.
