Very simple question, anyone with experience in adding ac to an 80s model suburban that did not come to the factory with it? I dont know if engine size matters but it has a 454!

Anything is possible. You could grab everything in the HVAC system from an A/C equipped Burb or use a kit from someone like Vintage Air. It only takes time and money to make anything happen.

yea its possible but will definitely take some work. Ive always had some kind of issues with the a/c systems in all the suburbans ive had.

Larry is right. you could do a jy swap over or vintage air. The problem with another vehicle is that you should really have the other a/c equipped vehicle at your place which would give you time and something to constantly reference. I wouldn't say it's super technically difficult, but consider the huge amount of time you'll have that kind of swap (plus replacing parts that may be worn beyond service). The vintage air kits are nice, simple (relatively) and not uber expensive, however, rear air won't be much of an option like the factory installed. FWIW The vintage air kits are awesome in old hot rods like my '67 rs. But that does not have the cavernous interior that our burbs exhibit. Good luck and if you tackle this job, keep us all posted!!
