Well. Just got a call from my trans mechanic, and the burbs transmission is done again. Take two on the rebuild. Damn this thing is a pain. New brakes needed, shocks needed, and more.

What is you Suburban trans?

I just had a 4L60E rebuilt in our 1997 Yukon and 3 times back to the shop, first was a loud clank/thunk as the torque converter unlocked and scattered....it was at about 25 mph and I knew something went south, but the shop said they would stand behind it and to keep driving it. Few days later I was set on cruise control at 60 mph, when the engine started to rev higher with out more speed, then the torque converter quit converting torque!!! Lots of trans fluid shoved out and no forward movement. Replaced the converter and flushed system and cooler. Then I had no final lock-up, be it converter lock or fourth, I am not sure but the shop took it back and changed a faulty (newly replaced at rebuild) solenoid and gave it back. That may only be two...I will have to remember!! BUt all in all the trans is doing fine now and if it fails again within a 12 month period I have the shops number and I will give them the address to pick it up!!

I am also due for my front brakes, the rotors are very grooved, but they are grooved to the pads! So we are all good!!! I will probably use a Rockauto.com kit when we have the money, but for now when we stop from 55 mph quickly the steering wheel shimmies.

The shocks I recently replaced with Monroe HD shocks in front and air shocks in the rear since we added a 3rd row and now have more weight, we need to custom order new rear springs but the shocks will help untill then and will be used once the new springs are in. The shocks were from Rockauto.com also....I would recommend them if the ship overseas for a reasonable cost.

So yeah...what transmission does the burb have?

I'm not sure. I'm new to the ins and outs of chevdom. Its a 2005 Z71 with a 5.3. Hmmmmmm. Now you got me thinking. Mine was doing the same thing. Bets are its the solenoid, and maybe the torque converter. I'm replacing with Monroe reflex monotubes. I have them on my jku with great results. I'm adding the lift from eBay and new torsions and springs. Brakes are from Napa.

Will do that on the next round of brake work. Never had time to order other parts. But anything that gives me better braking is good with me.

Well. Most work is done on the burb. Found the front sway bar bushings were toast. Waiting on those. Note to people, do NOT buy pro comp shocks. Mine had the rubbers rotted to nothing left, and the body of the shocks were rust to the point of holes. The rear brakes were non existent.

Hoping the rig is going to be like new.

Well. Got it back. Its totally transformed. The Monroe reflex work amazing on the suburban. It now stops goes, and rides like 1000 times better.
