suggestions for hot showers

wondering if there are any here that have experiences or preferences on some of the small propane fired or other showers.

I've tried the solar bag showers, but for the wife and for some of the colder weather, they don't cut it.

I'm looking to purchase something in the next few weeks before we head out for 9 days camping, hiking, canoe/kayaking in AR.

Any input and/or suppliers would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Jeff,

Coleman and Zodi are two companies that make propane fired hot water heaters. And if you search within Camping Equipment, Storage & Clothing for "shower" you'll bring up a wealth of information.

Jeff, check out the Zodi Extreme. It's based on a SS bug sprayer and doesn't need batteries. Holds enough for 2+ showers if you keep em' relatively short. It comes with everything you need, including a custom stove to heat the water and a thermometer to monitor water temp as you heat it. Awesome, simple, reliable, great shower.

You can get them from Adventure Trailers. Great guys to deal with. Customer service there is 2nd to none.

:iagree:

Right on the button. I originally had the electric pump version of the zodi and it sucked. Pump never worked right. I bought the extream from ADVT's and it was awsome. It took a bit to get the water to temp (about 100 deg) but it was very nice.

I also totally agree with the Adventure Trailes being TOP NOTCH. Along with the zodi I got a new Eezi Awn 1800. Mario was on this way to a 4wheel parts event and was kind enough to deliver my tent and shower. Now thats customer service!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Mario!!!!!!

I like my Zodi Extreme! Reasonably quick, plenty of water for 2 showers per fill...but change out the head for a pistol grip sprayer.

If you search ebay you can find a product that I plan on trying that hooks to your heating system in the engine compartment, then pumps water from a stream/lake/bucket and flows it in copper tubing through heated water in your car to warm it and out a spout that youcan hold or mount for an unlimited supply. Or limited if you use a bucket. Pretty engenious. I can find the link if you want.

Personally, I had real bad luck with my Zodi. I'm a little over 6' and for it to work without putting scalding steam on me, I ended up having to sit in a camp chair to take a shower with it. After that, I decided that I wanted something more robust. Here is a link to my approach along with a few others I dug up on the search.

I'm guessing this is the Zodi shower that has a pump that runs the water through a propane burner?

Jeff, don't confuse this with the one I recommended. The one I recommended doesn't have a pump and the water is a constant tempurature that you control before you start taking a shower. It also has a thermometer on the side of the tank so that you can tell what the temp is at any time.

I bought the piezo lit Zodi. I too was not impressed with the battery pack/pump combo. Zodi sells another version that uses a 12v pump. It looked an aweful lot like a Rule bilge pump.
So, after a trip to the local West Marine where I picked up the pump, a sealed switch, 25 feet of paired marine grade wire and cig plug.....I now have a shower that is compact and sets up as one compact unit. The extra length of wire allows me to set up a distance from the truck, and the switch allows control at the shower. No having to set up a stove..Just plug in, fill the reservoir, attach a bottle and push a button. No need for a thermometer...just dip a toe in the res to check temp.
It works great.
