super duty front hubs?

I have an 04 f250. I think I have a ujoint going, it makes a light clunking sound in slow tight turns. I haven't dug into these hubs yet, does anyone have or know where I can find an exploded diagram? Also are any specialized tools needed?

The hubs on that truck aren't servicable, they're a sealed unit. I have heard of some guys replacing the needle bearing in them, but everything else is a no go. The Dynatrac hub conversion solves the problem and gives you the servicable old school Dana 60 reliability. (and gives you 35 spline stub shafts & locking hubs)

Thanks, then i imagine they won't be too hard to take out. I'm pretty much sure now that it's the u joint. I don't want to replace anything with after market yet. That is a slippery slope and I can only afford one modified POS at a time:) This truck has auto locking hubs that can also be manually locked??? I haven't figured that one out yet.

Those plastic hubs are crap, they like to lock themselves, which could have caused the ujoint issue. (if that's what's wrong) When you can, invest in a set of Warn hubs. How many miles are on the truck?------------To make sure we're speaking of the same parts, the Hub Assy's are the sealed units that house the wheel bearings, the locking hubs are the plastic units with the knob you turn.

That looks like an exploded view of the rear axle bearings/axle shaft. Weren't you talking about the front?

Yes, I assume I have to remove both the hub assembly and locking hub to pull the axle shaft and change the ujoint. I was hoping to find an exploded diagram of both assemblies.

I have looked all over the Ford CD for a exploded view of the front WB with no luck, they only have the view of the rear?? Lots of pictures of the front wheel hub removal but no exploded view.

See if this guy's page helps. http://www.guzzle.rbmicro.com/

I had to service the front needle bearings on mine and used his page to help me.

As far as the "auto" hubs, I have yet to see those work properly. Which is why mine is fully manual.
