Superu Winch Install / Phase One Complete

The first phase of installing a FRH to use my Warn XD9000i multi-mount setup on the Superu is complete.

A pair of 3/4" x 6" Grade 8 machine bolts secure a 2" step bumper FRH to the underside of the factory bumper.

Phase Two requires welding braces to the hitch and the underside of the body to keep from tearing the front end off on a hard pull! Hope to have it wrapped up and tested in a couple of weeks. :)

Those of you familiar with the Superu will notice the missing Lightforce photon cannons! Rest assured they will be back in a couple of days. I just got a lightbar for a Cherokee that will fit with some custom mounts and should be lighting up my little corner of the world in no time!

WOW! :wings:

That's a big winch for a Subie. Do you have a side profile of the vehicle? How much did the nose drop?

The nose barely budged.

I have a set of lift springs on her from King Springs in AU and they keep things pretty tight.

The price was right on the winch so I went with the "more is usually better" maxim! The ole subie's not as light as you might think. Especially with all the gear I carry. :smiley_drive:

We were sitting around the campfire at the 2nd Monongahela, and we all wished you could have shown up so we could watch that Subie wheel. My only experience with Subies off road was when I was a kid in the '70s and my uncle Buddy would take one of his numerous bone stock Subies into the backwoods for hunting or fishing. They didn't always come back with all the pieces they started with, but they always got him back home!

Thanks guys. Sorry I missed the outing.

Project I'd been guiding along finally launched that weekend! :wings:

As soon as I get the lights back on, I'll get some more pics up. Just trying to get a lift kit now and we'll be good for a while! I'm getting dangerously close to the point of frustration where I pull out the drill press and hockey pucks and start lifting it the way we used to do the old IH Scouts!

Hopefully, Dave Gibson down in AU will be back from vaca soon with good news!
