Thanks for your comments. At some point Superwinch changed from a 2hp motor to a 4.2 hp motor on this winch. Does anywone know what year that occured?

Thanks,

John

Spoke with superwinch today. They told me that the lower HP motor still has the same pulling ability (?) but importantly, if the motor ever fails, the higher HP motor fits both models, so can be retrofitted, if that is the case.

And the rep asked how much I was paying. When I told him, he said, "Damn, better grab it or let me know who's got it casue I will!" He said they were one of their best perfromers. No reason to doubt him on this since I am buying it used and SW is making nothing off the purchase.

I talked to seller and will pick up next Saturday. Just could not get schedules matched up before then. I will post pics and a report when I have it.

Thanks again for your input.

Waiting on delivery of a roller fairlead. Seller told me that the winch had been used twice and based on the condition of the cable, I think he was correct, no bends tweaks frays or nicks.

Mounting took a bit of work with the grinding wheel on the bumper.

Thanks for all your input.

Got the roller fairlead mounted last night and spens a little time respooling the wire rope. It is not perfect, but neither am I :)

Still considering synthetic, but don't have the extra $ for it right now anyway. So winch project is "officially done".
