Surface finishes for chassis / undercarriage - build

Hello all,

Here to pick your brains!!! Living about 450km / 280 miles from the nearest capital city does have its problems when planning a build. Currently I have two issues to solve.

1st - the design I am contemplating requires some large rolled pieces of RHS (100 x 50 x 3mm) at approx a 2m Rad. No one here does it!

2nd - the nearest galvanizer is in a capital city!!!

So I will need to blast and coat with something awesome and just so amazing!!! Something so durable, yet attractive that people who look at my build will never question its longevity.

Any thoughts or ideas on what product, or range of products to coat a chassis / undercarriage in please?

So, as I haven't heard anything yet... thought I would post my thoughts so far... Sand blast, then etch primer... then 3 coats of 2 pack polyurethane paint such as Omega Omethane Polyurethane... but have never used the Omega brand finishes.

Not sure if it would chip as too hard or not - that is my big worry on a proper off-road chassis build.

don't know if you can get it there, but this stuff works great and can be sprayed (unlike POR15)

Neat chassis, what's it off?

I had a read... it sounds like pretty heavy duty stuff. How have you found its resistance to chipping / damage over time?

Crikey, that is one robust looking machine! Love the rims too!

Were the ROPS coated in the same material?

yes, but it's there's another coating that has to go on if it's exposed to sunshine. The KBS coating is good for everything but UV, thus, they make another stuff you put over it that is impervious to the sun roll cage (I had to look up ROPS )
What I liked the most about it was its ability to spray through an paint gun - it uses the same size tip as more primers require

Have discovered that Geelong Galv. will pick up and drop off from Mount Gambier ($145 each way, or similar). So will elect to get it sandblasted and then hot dipped like I hoped for. Thanks for your reply.
