there was one of those on Sfbay for a month or two, but it had been butchered. The engine had been swapped for a Chebby 350. AFAIK, they never legally imported the 2 door.

There was an outfit that was importing two door Range Rovers back in the late 1970's and early 1980's - sort of like the guys that were importing G-wagens. plus a number of Range Rovers were imported during the grey market boom from 1982-1985. If I wasn't car poor already I'd be all over this if it isn't too rusty.

Up untill mid 1988 any US citizen could import anything as long as you brought it up to the then pretty lax DOT regulations. EPA granted a 1 time per person exemption to the existing smog requiremnts @ the time. The kicker was you had to post a bond untill the truck was inspected and brought into compliance. Business's that brought in vehicles had to make them comply to both EPA and DOT. If this was brought in in the 1970's there would have been no issues barring import.
