Hey i'm looking to trade a guy my half doors and soft uppers for his full hard doors. My question is will I still need the door surrounds with the hard doors? I think I will but i'm not sure. also how hard is it to switch door locks?
when you say "door surround" do you mean the black plastic piece that the door seals against when you close it? if that is what you mean then yes, you will still need them.
as for switching door locks. shouldnt be too tough but i havent done it on a TJ.
Yeah the plastic piece is what i was talkin about. The guy with the doors lives in NC so we'll probablly just meet up halfway I figure I'll just take out my door locks at home before I leave, have him do the same with his and we can put the locks back in our "new" doors when we get home.
The guy I bought my half doors from said if you hand the lock cylinder to the parts guy at the dealer he will match it to your key, he had it done when he bought them. I do not know if a locksmith can do it in the door..
I recently made the switch the other direction. My local locksmith charged me $40 to rekey the locks to my ignition key. I took the locks out for him, it's real easy.
