T-Max winches

Who here has had experience with the T-Max winches? I am strongly considering a 12 000 pound Outback series. The cost difference between Warn and T-max is no concern but the quality is. Is it better? Is the parts availability good? Is the wireless remote control quality or a POS? Does the winch keep spooling for a second after the wireless remote is turned off like some other wireless remotes do (unsafe)? I have tons of experience with Warn and this winch appears to be pretty decent but I haven't touched one yet.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

I have a much older model from Tmax. Mine was built just prior to the opening of their new manufacturing facility in China. I am not sure how their quality is at the new plant. I have had a couple of problems with mine though. The brake assembly has broken...twice, and the switch in the remote failed once (while I had about 85' of cable payed out), so I was unable to spool any cable....I had to re-wire the remote on the spot (trying to recover a explorer sport track stuck below the high tide line south of San Filipe).

I don't have any experience with their wireless remotes.

Warn is generally considered the benchmark for the industry...but I have seen those go up in a puff of smoke too.

The Tmax's are fairly popular in Idaho because a now defunct 4x4 shop really pushed them. They sold them pretty darn near their cost. They seem pretty good reliability wise. But if money is not an issue I'd be all over a Warn or a Ramsey. There is a reason everything is compared to a WARN.

I have a T-Max sitting in the garage awaiting install (actually bumper to arrive).

I tore it down and rebuilt it. It seems to be a higher caliber than the Milermarker's and the wireless feature is nice. It only has one control, that can be corded if you run out of batteries.

Happy with T-Max

I had a 9000 lb T Max installed on my 2003 Tacoma D/C (now regretfully sold), anyhow, I used my TMax many times and didn't have any problems with it at all.

i have a 10,000 on a jeep grand cher. seems to do the job, but i like my sw x9 much better. not too much good to say, or too much bad to say. seems to do the job but i would go with warn over the t max if that were the two i were looking at. it's also bigger than my x9 or my buddies warn. i know not much help, but just my thoughts.

cheers
