Taco Handheld GPS mount

Just got a handheld GPS and trying to figure out how I'm going to mount it in my 07 taco. I really like the RAM mounts but, have been looking at braketron adjustable mounts so I could use it to hold other stuff.

I'm really liking the vent mount over the windsheild mount due to the fact its more out of site and won't leave little rings all over the windshield. Do any of ya'll have any experience with the vent mounts? How sturdy and do they vibrate a ton?

The only vent mount I've seen was fine for the road but seemed like it would vibrate on a dirt road. I also don't like obstructing my vents.

The windshield mounts actually seem to hold well or you could mount it to the A pillar.

I've thought about trying a RAM tube mount around the grab handle on the A-piller on my '08 Tacoma.

For the vent mounts, are you talking about something like this:

You mean like this?

RAM tube mount works fine on A-pillar of 2006 Tacoma, allows quick removal of GPS, and has minimal vibration. No problem with signal reception on Garmin GPS60csx. 12VDC power connection easy to install and saves on batteries.

In my 2006 I mounted the 1" ball unit for a Ram Mount centered above the CD player. Easy to do and it's secured with nylon locking nuts, so it won't come loose, and it does not vibrate.

The adjustable arm is a three inch I think. My GPS is a Garmin GPSMap 76Csx and Ram has a holder for it. I can use it off it's internal battery, or 12V cig plug, and I am going to hardwire it also. (GPS in pictures is an older 76C but they are the same size).

I used a wide angle lens so it looks like it really sticks out, but it doesn't. The second picture gives a better view. It doesn't vibrate and you can adjust it's position so it's not in the way of the CD slot, radio control knob. It works well for me. No problem locking onto satellites in that position.

i have the same mount as dave does above, but i mounted mine where the garage door opener would go. i took the fold down door off and screwed the base threw the plastic. it hangs just a little to far because ther is some interfernce witht being able to see outthe rear view. you can still se out the rear view mirror but you catch a little bit of the gps when using the mirror. just another option

Thanks for the advice.
Soonenough yea thats kind of what I'm talking about.

I think I might buy one to try out. I'm taking a trip this week and need something now. If it works out I'll let ya'll know if not I'll go with the permanent or bar RAM mount.
