Teardrop siding options

Hello all,

I'm curious what everyone's opinion is on teardrop construction. I'm in the middle of planning my trailer and I'm on the fence still.

I'm leaning towards 1" tubing for the framework of the walls and roof, but it seems most here use wood rather than steel. What are the pros and cons of each? If I go ahead with the tube frame, what should I skin it with?

Thanks for any insight, id like the trailer to last a long time of course.

Have you thought of using some from of D.I.Y rail top components. light weight. If you use any type of woodply you are not adding fasters to end grain. That move and ware even in the sun. With wood you may have R1 steel tube R0 Insulation and pull heat away. With Rigid Insulation R3.8 per inch ands D.I.Y rail top components Makes what ever skin you use just glue and go .On my trailer planed to use steel roofing 26 gage may add 10 pounds over 40th. alum and 1/4'' woodply. Now may make an sock trailer. What I used runs .5 pounds running foot /12inch.D.I.Y rail top componentsfor

Good thoughts guys, I appreciate it.

Opp- regardless of how I go, I'll definitely be using the rigid insulation. So you're using 26ga steel for the roof, are you worried that will be too thin?

Verkstad- I'll probably avoid much swooping, as I plan to do more straight angles like some other trailers here use. But I do have the capacity to bend and roll steel, so that's not much of a deterrent for me.

Thanks again
