Try searching the high-end marine supply places.

Here's one listed at West Marine that adjusts from 24 to 30 inches, but it seems to be sold out right now.

However, 4" isn't enough travel for what you want. I just did a quick search to give an example.

I don't know if these guys sell to the public, but they have lightweight pedestal tables that can be lowered all the way to the floor.

Not saying you'd want to pay for the stuff, but high end pedestals can be had from a few marine manufacturers. It's even easy to find electrically raised/lowered examples.

Dave, thanks for the reference to Enflite. They have some very nice products. If I'm not mistaken they are right in your backyard in Georgetown.
Isn't Austin and Georgetown near each other? My son lives in Austin, so I seem to remember going through Georgetown.
Poking around I found a similiar pedestal that Springfield Marine (www.springfieldgrp.com) offers. Both companies pedestals look good. I plan to check these two out for availability and price. I'm in the build out phase of an Expo camper and try to acquire parts a little before I really need them.
Since posting this I talked to Enflite Rep, They're 8" manual pedestal is a mere $12,000 USD no wonder it's so nice. It is FAA approved. Translated that means it probably costs them $500. to build, but must build in $11,500 for Government regulations and product liability.

I actually used to work for them as a mechanical design engineer. Their stuff is top notch...lightweight, strong and reliable. A lot of their stuff ends up in planes owned by high rollers like Saudi oil princes

Dave, I really like their 6" and 8" pedestals. If I can't find any like them at a reasonable price, I've seriously thought about making my own version. A one off for my camper build. I tracked down a locking gas spring made by Suspa. How much information can you share about fabrication and other related parts that are used in building one. I'm assuming they use some type of guide to keep one metal tube from rubbing on the other one. If your interested in sharing you can contact me off line. I'd be glad to reciprocate with the research and knowledge I've gained with my own camper build.
