Tell me about Turbo Tents Please

I'm deciding between a Springbar and a turbo tent. The Springbar is bar none reliable and following almost cult-ish for good reason. But I'd like to know the good, the bad, and the ugly on Turbo tents. I'll admit I'm getting lazy, but I don't want to spend time setting up a tent, and OzTents are outta my pay grade.

I have no first hand experience but have been researching tents for months now. I have pretty much settled on the blackpine Turbo 6 Supreme. I would not even consider the coleman tent that was linked to unless you were 100% sure you would only be camping in fantastic weather.

I wanted something I could set up and take down quickly in a downpour. I also wanted it to pack up to something managable. Most of all I wanted it to have an excellent reputation in wind and rain. Out of the hundreds of reviews I have read on at least 20 different tents, The blackpine seems to fit the bill.

I'm interested in the weatherabilty of the turbo tent, something I'm finding lacking in my web searches. I'm not looking to camp in foul weather, but chances are... I would love to hear some first hand experience with these tents, as I don't have an OJ to read the reviews.

Send a PM to Jonathan Hanson or DesertRose.

They have been using a Turbo-tent for a couple years. Jonathan takes his tents very seriously . . .

A quick search of Turbo Tents here would give you tons of info, I know I have written my distain for hub style tents such as the turbo tent and coleman tent many many times. As for the Turbo tents and weather. don't count on the turbo tent being real good in extreme weather. The "rain fly" is not full coverage and will not give you optimum protection like a true 3-4 season tent. look for full coverage tents from REI, Big Agnes, even sierra designs. Also remember to always try to go bigger than what the tent says the tent if for IE if you need a 4 person tent look for a 6 or maybe even bigger. Just a recommendation

All good, thanks. I'm probably going to go canvas, and Springbar. I have help putting up a tent 9 times outta 10, so the springbar shouldn't be too bad. I would love insta set up, but I'll take better than currently have.

Thanks again,

Good call. I was in a significant windstorm in S. Utah last Thursday night, and while the Springbar moves with the wind, it didn't fill with sand, and didn't have a rainfly flapping against the tent body. We rounded out the weekend with a decent amount of rain, none of which made its way into the Springbar.

Enjoy knowing you can pass your tent along to your kids when you aren't camping anymore...

I am going to start distributing the Ausi version of turbo tent Look at Black Wolf tents. Currently I'm only doing drop shop from factory to test the market. They are very weather proof look up YouTube videos. They differ from BlackPine in having PVC floors gusseted windows. Please PM if interested
