Tent Setup for CDN 101

Got any links for canvas tents that would fit on a CDN 101 trailer? I have been using a Venturecraft on it for a few trips, but need more room. I have looked at some Aussie sites, etc. The Aussies seem to have it down right. Any pictures would be helpful also.

Thanks

What type of budget are you looking at? Kakadu camping in the northwest has tents for the top of the military jeep trailers, but they ain't cheap. Eezy Awn and Hannibal are a few others that fit the bill. Here is a pic of mine from Kakadu Camping.

Mayne,

How about the quality of this tent? Poles, design, canvas, etc. That brand seems to typically sag alot. Thoughts?

What about South African Tents?

I prefer my Howlingmoon Trailer Tent!

It's not that wide like the new one.
Just have a look:

I guess they are available in the US too!

For a "trailer tent", there are still very few options. One of the tents from OzTrail (via Kakadu, their North American importer) or one of the two tents from CVT. Gordigear makes trailer tents, but they don't seem to be available in the US right now.

You'll likely want the OzTrail Outer Ridge Venturer as it is designed for a 42" mounting height. The CVT tents are designed for the same height, as well. If you have the original size tires and no lift, you could use the Outer Ridge Quest as it wants a 37" mounting height.

Of course, these are all in the higher pricing range for RTTs, but they include an "annex" that you normally have to pay extra to get. That's why I went with my OzTrail tent, I really hate getting dressed laying inside a tent, I'd rather stand or sit inside the main room. :) OzTrail also includes an awning, but the CVT tents are larger (too large for my needs).

Or, you could go the more common route and add a mounting rack to use a Tepui tent with an annex (or no annex).

Haven't personally seen the Kakadu tents. Eezi-Awn makes an awesome Globetrotter and GlobeDrifter (bigger) that are great quality but pricey. Imported by Paul May at EquiptOne. Howling Moon is another good choice and pretty much on par price wise with Eezi-Awn. I haven't see their trailer top model, but quality on their RTT tents I've seen is right up there with Eezi-Awn. RTT's like ARB with the overhang will work on trailers, but trailer would 'ideally' need some type of lift for the tent to make it tall enough when set up to make good use of the vestibule. You don't have that issue with the Eezi-Awn or Howling Moon tents that are designed for a trailer. Just some more food for your research. :)
