The 'Crusader' Project

In this thread I will be sharing my little build diary and updates on the goodies from Terrafirma we will test on our little P38 rig :)

First there was the engine upgrade. The lame 4.6L engine had to make room for a mil spec HMMWV 6.2L diesel and then a 5 speed transmission came afterward.
This gave the Crusader tremendous off road capability already.

(all this crap got to go)

(one more pedal is what I needed)

But we didn't stop there. We gave it a 3 inch lift and a 1 inch body lift.

Then a snorkel was fitted.

New Tom woods drive shafts (thank you , kindly :D ) . Upgraded Transfercase (still top secret) a set of Terrafirma Beadlock wheels is on the way for testing. and New Terrafirma shocks are coming in, too ( you'll love this one )

Next thing on the agenda is to convert the Drum Hand brake to a disk brake.
it needs lees room and stops the drive shaft even if it gets wet.
can't say that about the drum brake :( ask me how I know.

Nice. I've always had a thing for the P38s. Your swap seems to have made it a better vehicle which is awesome.

So this weekend was the Hottest event as far as offroading is concerned here in Florida.

Our 'Crusader' , the most capable P38 was flinging mud everywhere and went through everything I threw at it.
I was quite impressed.
I had no problems playing in the pool of the really bit toys

The P38 'crusader' went through this like it was nothing.
This was my view looking back

Trucks with bigger lifts and even bigger tires were getting trough not much easier than I did.

Most of the day 'Crusader' was a great help as a recovery vehicle.

snatching a Suzuki

I pulled out plenty of ATV

The 6.2L engine is a torque monster and indestructible.
I think I will start to make plans for a 6.5L diesel conversion, which will pack a bit more of a punch. Especially when paired with a Eaton supercharger.

New Coil over springs
We got a world wide known company for shock components and Defense Contractor signed up for our very own Coil over springs.
Stay tuned for the new 'Crusader' coil overs from R-Overland.
